Your Immune System is the Key!

There is a long way to go before the coronavirus pandemic is over, and when it is life will be forever different from what normal was just two months ago.  I am more convinced than ever that the most important key to thriving in our health and energy going forward is to maintain a strong immune system. My immune system currently tests at 91%, so I am not vewry worried about contracting Covid-19 (to find our what your immune system score is, click here for a free evaluation appointment).  Here are some things I am doing daily to keep my immune system strong:

1. Meditation- I mediate daily, usually in the morning using the Insight TImer app which has over fourteen thousand free meditations to choose from.  I generally select a peaceful, music or healing sound meditation from 20 to 30 minutes long.  The app will keep track of how many days in a row you meditate to the app, which is a good motivator for me (I'm now at 131 consecutive days).  Meditation lowers production of stress hormones adrenalin and cortisol which has a beneficial effect on your immune system.

2. Journal- I journal an average five days a week for 5 to 10 minutes.  I am currently trying out The Five Minute Journal sold by www.intelligentchange.com.  The daily page includes a section where you write gratitudes.   The feeling of gratitude will reduce your stress level which will raise your immune system.

3. Walk barefoot outside-  Many of you have had sessions with me where your magnetic field is imbalanced or deficient. When this comes up, I always recommend balancing or recharging your field by going outside barefoot, if only for a couple of minutes.  This benefits our bodies electrical system and boosts our immune system.  The only podcast I listen to regularly is Ben Greenfield's Fitness podcast because he does a tremendous amount of research on everything he talks about and tries things out on himself before recommending them.  Learn more about walking barefoot and hundreds of other interesting health related "hacks" at www.bengreenfieldfitness.com/411.  And go feel the earth beneath your feet.

4.  Immune boosters- I take a dropper full of an immunity blend from North Spore (www.northspore.com) once a day.  There are four different mushroom tinctures in this blend, two of which are highly recommended by Ben Greenfield, chaga and reishi (the other two are shittake and maitake).  Do you have a go-to immune system booster?  Go to my Facebook page and let us know what you are trying.

5.  Diet- As soon as I saw this virus coming down the pike in early February I altered my diet.  I had pretty much cut sugar consumption way down, but I cut it out completely then (except for Easter and my birthday).  I also have drastically reduced complex carbs and legumes, which are inflammation causing.  This basically put me on a Paleo type diet, but it worked to help my immune system climb.

6.  Cleansing- As I write this, I am on day 12 of a juice cleanse.  I juice fruits and vegetables daily using a high quality Champion juicer (thanks to Jillian Bergeron).  I supplement the juice with a high quality green powder, hysllium husks, senna, SP detox protein powder from Standard Process, flax seed oil and of course my mushroom blend.  This is clearing toxins out of my system and balancing my body, physically and energetically (after the first three days which were awful, my energy has been steadily climbing and my sleep quality has gone way up).  I have done some kind of a spring cleanse every year since the early 80's and I swear by its benefits.  Not to mention the fact that I have now lost 19 pounds since early February doing all the diet changes listed above.

8. Body Code- I perform Body Code sessions on myself to determine if there are any imbalances, misalignments or blockages that are suppressing my immune system.  I believe this work is also a major reason why I have lost so much weight so easily this year.  After you get your free immune system evaluation, you may want to have a few sessions to raise up your immune system score.  I continue to offer a discount package of five sessions that may interest you.

7.  Exercise- For the last thirty years or so I have worked out at the gym at least four times a week. It is critical to keep our bodies supple and strong in order to maintain a healthy immune system.  Here is what I am doing now:
     a. walking- I take about a three mile walk daily.  I use that time to listen to pocasts, music, or even walking guided meditations in Insight Timer. I use the Runkeeper app to track my walks, leave comments and even take photos that are included in my daily walking journal.  Where my gym time was 5:00am, I now walk at lunch time or in the evening.
     b. rebounding- Bouncing on a mini-trampoline called a rebounder is wonderful for aerobic activity, to keep your lymphatic system healthy and to strengthen core, hip and leg muscles. A healthy lymphatic system is key to a strong immune system.   I do quick five minute sessions and average of twice a day.  There are classes on YouTube you can bounce along with that are powerful workouts.(discalimer: I am currently taking a couple of weeks off from rebounding after a strained a leg muscle while jogging outside on pavement for the first time in over 20 years).
     c. weights- About every other day I do exercises with various dumbbells and kettle bells I have collected over the years.  My muscle mass has decreased without the gym workouts but it is good for the immune system to keep up some kind of resistance training.
     d. tai chi- When I do tai chi, I count it towards meditation time.  The movements I follow when doing a tai chi routine are very energizing and balancing.   I don't know if tai chi specifically raises one's immune score, but I think it must.  I learned the tai chi routine from a video on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcpelNJTDbY&t=2675s. If you are a beginner to tai chi, this is a good video to use.  I am currently doing tai chi once a week, but would like to do more.
